The arctic is a vast and unforgiving pace. At any moment Canadian forces 413 search and rescue squadron will take flight to look for a lost hunter, respond to plane crash or ship sinking.

I was invited aboard their C-130 Hercules aircraft on a training mission. The crews dropped supplies out the back of the plane to forces on the ground and in the mountains the pilots practiced terrain following.
