MY CAREER (what I'm good at)
NEWS GATHERING
I began my career as a freelance news videographer in 1984 at the age of 16. Right away I was traveling throughout Canada and the world covering stories for local and international broadcasters.

DOCUMENTARY
Being able to tell longer or more in-depth stories is so much fun. I've learned that it's not the equipment that makes a good story...it's how it's used and the passion and skill that is behind the camera and the people in-front that makes the story.

VIDEO JOURNALIST
As a "VJ" I have the responsibility to find and research a story and pitch it to my senior producer, I then go out and shoot all the interviews and necessary viz and sound, go back write and have my script vetted. I then voice and edit the item and finally feed it via satellite for broadcast.

PRODUCTION
This is where I get to play with different camera and lighting gear. Corporate is where different creative ideas make for different challenges. Where 2nd takes are allowed.

The majority of my career as a videographer has been done from behind the camera working with a reporter.
Working at APTN National News in Iqaluit allowed me the opportunity to expand my journalistic skills
as a video journalist. Finding, shooting, interviewing, writing and editing my own stories has been fun and challenging experience.
